The Ol' Cowboy

The Ol' Cowboy

The ol' cowboy is wise in heart
And his ears are hard of hearin'
But he mounts his horse and heads on out
The work he is not fearin'.

He gathers cattle all day through
He started 'fore the sun came up
He searches, pairs and heads 'em out
With the aid of his faithful pup.

He barely takes time out to eat
the jerky from his saddle bag
He drinks water from a nearby creek
And wipes his brow with a dirty rag.

The days are long and sometimes cold
And a wealthy man he'll never be
But in his heart he wouldn't trade
His life for anything!
